Archeology Museum

Ancient Theater

Located on the north side of Lesvos, among the pine trees, the Ancient Theater of Mytilene was originally built in the Hellenistic era and has undergone many reforms.
Caves of Lesvos

Limonas Monastery

The spacious halls of this monastery, founded in 1523, have been turned into an interesting museum that houses various treasures. The monastery also houses a rich library containing more than 15,000 documents and 450 manuscripts from the 9th and 19th centuries. Women are not allowed to enter the monastery.
Roman Aqueduct

This Roman Aqueduct dates from the 3rd century AD and constitutes one of the first great technical achievements of late Roman architecture. It was put into service as an archaeological site in 1995.

Located in the village of Agia Paraskevi in the center of Lesvos, the Museum of Industrial Olive Oil Production is housed in a former public olive press factory. It aims to reveal the technological development in olive oil production over the centuries.
Taksiarhes Monastery

Built in 1700, this monastery is located in Madamados in northern Lesvos. Dedicated to the saint patron of Lesvos, the monastery was restored in 1879. Legend has it that the icon of Taxiarhes in this church was made of clay and the blood of some monks killed by pirates in the Middle Ages.
Agios Therapon

Dedicated to St. John the Healer, this church is located in the center of Mitilli, the capital of Mytilene. The church is a three-aisled basilica with impressive architecture of Neoclassical and Renaissance elements, it was built in the 19th century and has beautiful icons.
Agios Athanasios

This is the Mytilene Cathedral. The church of Saint Athanasios, located in the very center of the town of Lesvos, dates from the 17th century and especially the bell tower has Gothic elements.

Located in the renovated building of the old Port Authority of Lesvos, this museum houses various items related to the history and culture of Lesvos, such as everyday life objects, traditional costumes, clay pots, rare book prints, and manuscripts.

The temple was dedicated to Apollon Napaeos, dated to the 8th century BC, but took its final appearance in the 6th century BC.
