Samos Heraion Tapınağı

Heraion Sanctuary

Legend has it that the goddess Hera was born and raised here. For this reason, a sanctuary belonging to Hera (Heraion) was built in ancient times. The temple was destroyed for an unknown reason in the 6th century BC, its renovation was never completed, and later the sanctuary was converted into a Christian church.
